Community Guidelines & Acceptable Use

Including prohibited items · Effective: 8 October 2026 · Version 1.0 · Ireland

Why these rules exist. ItsForSale is for honest local classifieds in Ireland. These guidelines protect users, meet hosting and DSA expectations, and keep illegal and high-risk goods off the platform. By posting, you agree to follow them and our Terms of Use. Anything illegal in Ireland or the EU is banned.

1. Spirit of the community

2. Rules when you post

Before you publish an ad, you must confirm that:

Do not put special-category or sensitive data about identifiable people in ads. If in doubt, we may refuse to publish.

3. Behaviour we do not allow

4. Prohibited items

Baseline rule. Anything that is illegal to sell or advertise in Ireland or the EU is banned on ItsForSale. The lists below are practical examples and are not exhaustive. When unsure, do not post. Ask us first.

4.1 Weapons and dangerous goods

4.2 Drugs, tobacco, vapes, alcohol and health

4.3 Intellectual property, fraud and privacy

4.4 Animals and regulated goods

4.5 Adult content and hate

4.6 Other high-risk items

5. Age-restricted categories

Accounts and posting require age 18+. We do not offer categories for alcohol, tobacco, nicotine/vapes, weapons, adult content or gambling-related items. Do not try to sneak them into other categories.

6. Business / commercial ads

If you sell as a business or trader:

We may remove misleading commercial ads under these guidelines. If we later offer paid "featured" placements, they will be clearly labelled as paid.

7. Enforcement

We may:

If we remove or restrict your content, we will explain why in plain language and how to contest it, except where the law requires otherwise.

8. How to report

Use the Report option on a listing where available, or contact us (see the Safety Centre and Contact). Include the ad link or ID, the reason and any evidence.

Not legal advice. This acceptable-use and prohibited-items list is a practical Irish-facing draft for a classifieds host. Laws and regulator guidance change (including solid-fuel and animal rules). Confirm edge cases with an Irish solicitor before relying on this list in enforcement disputes.
